Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why the name "Short Shorts & Long Socks"?

The first reason is that it hopefully guarantees I didn't steal the name of any existing business, sports collectibles or otherwise. More importantly, it's an accurate reflection of the era that I'm passionate about, a time when stirrups and sweat socks were worn high, shorts were worn short, goalies wore simple yet intimidating masks, kickers kicked "straight on", and wax packs were 15 cents each and contained no short prints, all the way the Good Lord intended (with the possible exception of the short shorts). While you'll find collectibles and cards from all eras on this site, there will be a heavy focus on the 1970's and early 1980's. Additionally, there are sections devoted to collectibles from my favorite professional (Detroit) and college (Michigan State) teams.

What is the meaning of the scale logo?

The scale logo very simply represents my philosophy for conducting business. It is based on Luke 6:38, which reads "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” I am a firm believer in "what comes around goes around". Given this, you can expect the absolute highest level of integrity in your interactions with me. I aim to be approachable and friendly. Items are described accurately and priced fairly. All cards and collectibles come from a smoke free home and will be delivered safely and securely. In short, I will treat you exactly as I wish to be treated, as I hope to form long term relationships with fellow collectors.

Are you a dealer or a collector?

I suppose the answer is "both". While I will certainly purchase items that I know can be "flipped" at a price that is fair to the buyer, the majority of the items for sale are duplicates from my own collection or items that I have decided to part with due to a lack of space or (more likely) an ever changing collecting focus. All funds are used to support my collecting habits.

How are prices determined?

My goal is to price things at the lower end of the current market value, which I determine from completed eBay auction results. I try to be extremely fair on prices and provide the highest level of customer service so that the overall result is a transaction that you are extremely happy with.

How do I order?

If you find something you like, if you need a scan of something, if you have feedback about my site, or if you just want to shoot the breeze about the good ol' days when shorts were short and socks were long, please do not hesitate to contact me at pinckneygirlshoops@gmail.com.  If you are local, we can meet up to complete the transaction.  If it is necessary to ship items, it is not a problem, I will send you a PayPal invoice and ship the item to your PayPal address.  I will send you a tracking number, and I guarantee the item(s) will be packaged so they arrive safe.  Shipping charges will be very reasonable.
